UPDATE: Now Boarding will reopen under new ownership

July 15, 2020

The impact of COVID-19 has presented overwhelming challenges for Now Boarding, and as a result, all operations have been suspended for the foreseeable future.
Now Boarding, a for-profit subsidiary of Animal Humane Society, has built an exceptional reputation and devoted clientele since it opened in 2008. Unfortunately, with most travel halted due to COVID-19 and many clients working from home, Now Boarding was operating at a fraction of their pre-COVID levels and far below total capacity. Even our most optimistic projections suggested that Now Boarding would suffer significant losses if it continued to operate in the current economic climate. As a result, the Now Boarding board of directors made the difficult decision to suspend operations for the foreseeable future.

The long-term future of Now Boarding remains uncertain. We operate under a lease agreement with the Metropolitan Airports Commission (MAC), and the Now Boarding board and senior leaders are currently working with MAC to determine if there are any workable options for resuming operations when the current crisis ends. We will provide an update when those negotiations conclude.
