Animal Humane Society offers a variety of fun, interactive, and educational programs for animal lovers of all ages. Whether you're looking to help your child foster their interest in animals, or seeking a way to celebrate your own love for animals — AHS has a program for you.
One-day camps and programs
School Break Camps
School Break Camps at AHS immerse students in grades 3-6 in everything animal. These one-of-a-kind day camps are hosted during school breaks at our each of our four locations.
Future Vet Workshop
Students in grades 3-8 interested in becoming a vet one day will love our Future Vet Workshop, which introduces them to the world of shelter medicine. This single day workshop is offered at each of our four locations.
Paint My Pet
Available for kids, families, and adults, Paint My Pet sessions help you unleash your inner artist! Paint a portrait of your pet with the help of an experienced artist at our Golden Valley or St. Paul locations.
Rescue Readers
Rescue Readers provide soothing company to dogs, cats, and critters awaiting adoption in our shelters. Opportunities are available in Coon Rapids, Golden Valley, and Woodbury.
Furry Tales Story Time
Furry Tales is a story time program at our Golden Valley location for children ages 5 and under and their parents. Each month features a picture storybook read by one of our humane educators, followed by a craft or activity and special time with an animal.
Coffee & Companions
At Coffee & Companions, adults ages 55+ can come together to enjoy animal interaction, friendship, and activities that support the dogs, cats, and critters in our care at Animal Humane Society’s Golden Valley adoption center.
Furry Friends & Films
What could be more fun than spending your Friday night with our furry friends at Animal Humane Society? At Furry Friends & Films, children are invited to wear their cozy pajamas and enjoy animal-themed fun, like reading to adoptable animals, animal-themed games, a movie, a pizza dinner, and more!
Host your birthday party at Animal Humane Society
Celebrate your party animals at AHS, complete with activities like shelter tours, age-appropriate games, and a meet and greet with an adoptable animal.
Multi-day camps and programs
Project Purpose
Project Purpose is a unique, 8-week program for students in grades 3-10 to learn more about AHS while empowering them to help make the world a better place for animals.
Summer Camp
Summer Camp, hosted in Coon Rapids, Golden Valley, and Woodbury, is a week-long camp designed for kids entering grades 3-6. Registration for summer 2024 opens in February.
AHS now offers half-day themed camps at our St. Paul location for grades 3-10 throughout the summer focused on arts and crafts, animal science, or careers helping animals.
Educational opportunities for student groups
AHS also hosts a variety of programs for schools, community groups, and scout groups with options to visit an AHS shelter location for interactive learning, or have an AHS humane educator come to your location or connect with your group virtually.
