Calling all Tiger, Cub and Webelo Scouts! Join us for our new program, "Prepared for Pets". This fun, educational and interactive program focuses on caring for pets by recognizing basic pet needs. Scouts will learn how to help clean up after our pets, evaluate which foods are appropriate for them, and spot warning signs that a pet may be in need of extra care.
Through hands-on activities, some detective work, learning basic pet language, and pretending to be a puppy or kitten, scouts will develop greater respect and compassion when caring for pets. Scouts will earn a pet ownership pin symbolizing their readiness to become a responsible and caring owner.
The program includes a tour of the adoption floor and the opportunity to meet animals awaiting their new homes.
Program length: 65 minutes
Program cost: $5 per Scout; $60 minimum
All Boy Scouts are welcome to schedule a stand-alone shelter tour.
For our youngest Cub Scouts, the Lions, our program, "The Good Kind Giant," teaches at a very young age the appropriate ways to take care of a beloved pet. The scouts will also have the opportunity to learn more about Animal Humane Society and tour the shelter’s adoption floor to see animals ready for their new forever home.
Program length: 45 minutes
Program cost: $35 classroom program + $1 per person ($20 minimum) tour
