Summer camp for animal-loving kids

AHS now offering virtual summer camp

There are two virtual camp options this summer – one for kids entering grades 3-5 and another for kids entering grades 6-8. Each virtual summer camp session will run Monday through Friday, 9-11:30 AM, CST.

The fee to attend virtual summer camp is $100 and covers all supplies and materials needed. Supply kits will be thoroughly sanitized and then mailed to campers prior to the start of each session.

Each 2.5-hour session will be animal themed and include:

  • Daily video conference, led by an AHS summer camp counselor
  • Educational lessons
  • Crafts
  • Virtual animal times
  • Offline activities
  • And more!

Changes to in-person summer camp

Based on Gov. Walz’s current executive order and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve made the decision to change our summer camp plans.

Canceled programs

  • June's virtual camp: We have canceled all in-shelter June camp sessions and refunded all fees. We are offering a new virtual summer camp for grades 3-8 as a fun and safe alternative.
  • 9-10 grade camp: Due to low demand, we have canceled both 9-10 grade camps this summer. Refunds will be issued June 1 to the card on file.
  • St. Paul camp: Due to space constraints and an inability to safely distance children and staff, we will not host any summer camps at our St. Paul shelter this year. All St. Paul summer camp sessions have been canceled and refunds will be issued on June 1.

July/August details and schedule

In order to comply with Gov. Walz’s most recent executive order, we will be holding our traditional summer camp in July and August with new policies, sanitation procedures, and reduced capacities to allow for appropriate social distancing.

Each session will have no more than 10 people, two of which will be summer camp counselors. Due to these lower capacities, we have refunded all summer camp registrations for the months of July and August.

Review additional details about the July and August summer camps, including the schedule and registration information.
