Virtual summer camp for kids

AHS Virtual Summer Camp

About AHS virtual summer camp

Kick off your summer with our new week-long, 2.5-hour virtual summer camp!

There are two virtual camp options in June – one for kids entering grades 3-5 and another for kids entering grades 6-8. Each virtual summer camp session will run Monday through Friday, 9-11:30 a.m.

Each 2.5-hour session will be animal themed and include:

  • Daily video conference, led by an AHS summer camp counselor
  • Educational lessons
  • Crafts
  • Virtual animal times
  • Offline activities
  • And more!

The fee for each week-long session of virtual camp is $100 and covers all supplies and materials needed. Supply kits will be thoroughly sanitized and then mailed to campers prior to the start of each session.

Registration is open to everyone. If you're already registered for a July or August session, you may also participate in our June virtual session.

Changes to our traditional summer camps

In March, AHS closed to the public in response to COVID-19, and we have only recently begun resuming limited services and reopening our shelters in strict compliance with state and federal safety guidelines. As we consider options for our summer education programs, the safety of your children is our top priority.

Based on Governor Walz’s current executive order and the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we’ve made  changes to summer camp plans.

  • June camps: We have canceled in-shelter June camp sessions and are refunding all fees. As a fun and safe alternative, we are offering a new virtual summer camp for grades 3-8.
  • July and August camps, grades 3-8: We are currently evaluating options for our July and August camps for grades 3-8 and will share an update on those sessions as soon as we know more.
  • June-August camps, grades 9-10: All 9-10 grade summer camp sessions have been cancelled. Due to lower capacity and demand, we will not be offering an alternative. Full refunds have been issued to all registrants.

For those unable to attend summer camp this year, we have developed a series of free virtual content available on our website.
