Is your 5th or 6th grader interested in becoming a vet one day? This three-hour program, led by our professional humane educators, is designed to immerse students in shelter veterinary medicine. Students will have the opportunity to practice the skills used by shelter veterinary technicians (vet techs) and veterinarians, such as administering vaccinations, performing blood draws, and listening to animals' heart beat and lungs. Students will visit the shelter’s surgical suite and exam areas to see vet techs and veterinarians in action. While visiting the surgical suite, students will be able to watch in-progress surgeries from a short distance; please prepare your child for the sight of veterinary equipment, intubated animals, and blood.
Upon completion of the program, each child will receive a certificate of participation to commemorate his or her experience!
