Pet emergencies

Emergency veterinary care
If your pet is currently in need of emergency veterinary care, please immediately contact your veterinarian or an Affiliated Emergency Veterinary Service (AEVS) clinic.

If you believe your pet may have been poisoned or ingested something toxic, please call the Pet Poison Helpline in Minneapolis at 800-213-6680. For more information visit the Pet Poison Helpline online.

Red Cross disaster assistance
We partner with the American Red Cross, Twin Cities chapter to provide temporary boarding for household pets whose families have been affected by single family fires or large-scale disasters in Hennepin and Anoka counties.

Upon referral from the Red Cross, we provide housing and food for the pet for up to two weeks at no charge. Please contact the Red Cross at (612) 871-7676 for more information.

Preparing for an emergency
Preparation is the key to ensuring your pet’s safety when an emergency or disaster strikes. Ensure your pet's safey when emergency or disaster stirkes by having an emergency plan in place as well as familiarizing yourself with regular household items that prove toxic for pets.
