Scout programs

We welcome Girl Scout and Boy Scout troops to our shelters! Select from the following to find more information about these unique and comprehensive programs.

Daisy Scout Program

This fun, interactive, animal-themed program helps Daisy Scouts earn their Birdbath Award, as part of the "5 Flowers, 4 Stories, 3 Cheers for Animals" guidebook. Our humane educators use storytelling and games to teach Daisy Scouts about basic pet needs and safety to help them be responsible future pet owners. They learn how people and animals help each other, and how they can help their own pets.

The Daisy Scout Program includes a tour of our adoption areas, with time to review what the scout learned about helping animals and appropriate animal interactions. Upon completion of the program, each scout will receive a special patch to signify they have earned their Birdbath Award.

Program length: 60 minutes
Program cost: $5 per scout; $60 minimum

Brownie Pets Badge Program

Our comprehensive Brownie Pets Badge Program walks scouts through the importance of meeting pets’ needs (health, safety, feeding, exercise, etc.). Our humane educators use a variety of games, activities, and crafts to engage scouts in learning how to better care for the pets in their lives and animals in shelter. Upon completion of the program, each Brownie will receive their Brownie Pets Badge for their vest or sash.

This program includes a tour of our adoption center.

Program length: 2 hours
Program cost: $10 per scout; $80 minimum

Junior Girl Scout Badge Program

Our “Law of the Paw” Badge Program uses games and activities to teach Junior Scouts about the importance of pet adoption, spaying and neutering, and collars and ID tags. Please note, “Law of the Paw” is a unique program developed by Animal Humane Society and does not follow any curriculum in the Girl Scout Handbook.  Upon completion of this program, each scout will receive a special Animal Humane Society badge for their vest or sash.

This program includes a tour of our adoption center.

Program length: 105 minutes
Program cost: $10 per scout; $80 minimum
