Shelter and rescue partners
Animal Humane Society proudly partners with other shelters and rescue organizations to provide medical services and placement options that help thousands of animals find new homes each year.
More than 20 local organizations partner with AHS to place animals that experience high levels of fear, anxiety, and stress in shelter environments.

Animal transport partners
In addition to partnering with local rescues, AHS works with organizations across the country to transport animals from areas where shelters and rescues are overpopulated and over capacity with the number of animals needing new homes. Learn more about our Animal Transport Program.
Animal welfare coalitions
Animal Humane Society plays a leading role in many state and national animal welfare coalitions.
Minnesota Alliance for Family and Animal Safety
The Minnesota Alliance for Family and Animal Safety is a diverse group of professionals and community members dedicated to working across organizations, communities and disciplines to bring an end to human-animal violence.
Minnesota Horse Welfare Coalition
Since 2005, Animal Humane Society’s Humane Investigations team has seen a 50% increase in cases affecting horses. In response, we initiated the Minnesota Horse Welfare Coalition, a group of organizations, horse rescues, humane agents and individuals working to prevent horse neglect, abandonment and abuse.
Pet Shelters Across America
Pet Shelters Across America is consortium of the leading animal welfare organizations in the United States. PSAA is an umbrella organization representing 35 animal shelters that raise funds for local shelters. All of the members are welfare organizations that are independent, stand-alone entities that do not report to national humane organizations or receive funding or management from any national groups.
Shelter Animals Count
Shelter Animals Count is a collaborative initiative formed by a diverse group of stakeholders to create and share a national database of sheltered animal statistics, providing facts, and enabling insights that will save lives.
Socially Conscious Sheltering
We’re proud to have joined hundreds of other shelters across the country (and rescue groups, policy makers, law enforcement, media, veterinarians, behavior professionals, human-animal service providers, and community members) who support the eight tenets of Socially Conscious Sheltering, and to be the first shelter in Minnesota to formally join this movement.
Veterinary center clients
More than 50 Minnesota shelters and rescue organizations receive low-cost spay/neuter and medical services through AHS veterinary centers. Learn more about veterinary services available to rescue organizations.
