Get your wag on — the Walk for Animals is May 2

The Walk for Animals is Animal Humane Society’s largest annual fundraiser, bringing together more than 8,000 people to raise funds for homeless and neglected pets across Minnesota. Every dollar you raise for the Walk helps provide medical treatment, behavior programs, and care to nearly 24,000 animals each year.

We hope you’ll join us and thousands of other animal lovers for a day of fun in Golden Valley on Saturday, May 2. Can’t make it to the Walk? You can still raise funds and make a big difference for animals that need your help. Visit our Walk for Animals website to get started today!

Going the extra mile for Samsonite and Chyra

This past year, we focused our attention on an initiative called Doing More for Animals, which has allowed us to allocate more resources to making difficult-to-place animals adoptable through expanded behavior programs, advanced medical treatments and increased foster opportunities. This heartwarming video introduces you to two animals, Samsonite and Chyra, who we were able to go above and beyond for thanks to Doing More for Animals. Your support is critical in making stories like these possible. Chyra is now available for adoption.

Unique summer volunteer experience for 16-18 years olds

Calling all animal-loving teens! We have a special volunteer program open to 16-18 year olds who want to volunteer with AHS over the course of one summer. Animal Humane Society is looking for enthusiastic and motivated volunteers to participate in our Summer Animal Volunteer Experience (S.A.V.E.) program!

As a S.A.V.E volunteer, you will cover a variety of volunteer shifts that become available at our five locations over the summer months, ensuring our animals receive excellent care and socialization as they await their forever homes. We will begin accepting applications for S.A.V.E. on March 23.

Bringing work home has never been more fun

Cody

Working at Animal Humane Society, you can’t help but fall in love with lots of animals. We give them all the love we can, and then happily send them out the door with their new families. But once in a while, someone falls too hard and the only option is to adopt that animal themselves. Call it a hazard of the job — a really fun hazard. Customer Service Representative Kathryn found her true love dog about six months after joining the AHS team. Cody is all kinds of crazy, but absolutely perfect for Kathryn.
