Senior dogs get a second chance
Chewbie and Ringo's adoption story
The future for Chewbie and Ringo, 19-year-old Shih Tzu/Poodle mix brothers, was filled with uncertainty when their owner could no longer care for them. But fortunately, they arrived at AHS where they were received with open arms. The elderly pair were in good health for their age and were quickly moved to an AHS adoption center. An adopter soon fell in love with Chewbie and Ringo, and the next chapter of their lives began — living out their golden years in a loving new home.
Did you know that Animal Humane Society is an open admission shelter? We accept every animal that is surrendered to us regardless of health, age, breed, or behavior. No animal is ever turned away.
Our generous community makes this possible in two ways: by opening up their hearts to animals of all kinds through adoption and by supporting the work of AHS financially.
You can help senior dogs like Chewbie and Ringo

We love to share adoption success stories with our supporters. Thank you for making these stories and the work we do at AHS possible!
