At Animal Humane Society, our goal is to help animals lead happy, healthy lives. Beyond adoption and supporting pets and their owners, that also means advocating for animals across Minnesota and beyond.
One way we work to advance animal welfare and create a more humane world for animals everywhere is by having a presence and developing relationships at the Minnesota State Capitol.
Meet Matka
Our Government Relations team works hard each legislative session to build relationships at the capitol. That includes special events like puppy day at the capitol and having a presence when important, animal-related legislation comes up.
This year, we got to meet a new, furry face: Matka, the Capitol’s first K-9 security dog.
Read Matka’s story to learn about her training and her important job at the state capitol.
