Animal Humane Society will be closed Monday, January 16, in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. We will resume regular business hours the following day.
Kindest Cut, which offers high quality, low cost spay/neuter surgery to the pets of people in need, will host TGIF! (Thank Goodness I’m Fixed), a low-cost spay and neuter event, on Friday, September 27.
Kindest Cut will be performing surgeries that day at both its mobile clinic, which will be at Neighborhood House, 179 Robie St. E., St. Paul, and at Melrose Animal Clinic, 845 Meadow Lane N., Golden Valley.
Pet owners who meet income requirements can have an animal spayed or neutered and vaccinated for only a $10 co-payment. Qualification information can be found at www.kindestcutmn.com or by calling 763-789-7729. Because there are a limited number of appointments for this special event, pet owners should call to reserve a spot for their pet’s surgery.
Kindest Cut operates in partnership with Animal Humane Society, the leading animal welfare organization in the Upper Midwest. For more than a decade, AHS has sterilized all cats, dogs, rabbits and ferrets prior to adoption. More than 18,000 animals have been sterilized by Kindest Cut since it began operations in 2011.
In early September, Kindest Cut expanded its operations when the Melrose Animal Clinic opened at AHS’s Golden Valley, paving the way for Kindest Cut to do thousands more spay/neuter surgeries each year.
“My staff and I are delighted to have a full size clinic where we can expand our ability to serve the pets of people in need,” says Dr. Meghann Kruck, Kindest Cut’s director and staff veterinarian. “Our mobile clinic has served and will continue to serve us and the community well, but certainly has limitations in the number of patients we can serve per day. The new Melrose Animal Clinic has the capability for us to house and provide surgery for up to 120 additional patients a day.”
