Without our volunteers, AHS wouldn't be the incredible organization it is today. From cleaning dishes to walking dogs to engaging with the next generation of animal lovers, so much of the work we do is made possible by the dedication of our volunteers.
And there are very few volunteers who've made quite the impact that Joan Corbett has. We're so grateful for her commitment to animal welfare and her incredible 25 years of volunteer service with the organization.

We're always on the lookout for passionate animal lovers who are looking to make a difference. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities available at AHS, including:
- Foundational roles: New volunteers in these roles don't work directly with animals, but they're an integral part of AHS. These roles include Shelter Assistant Volunteers who assist with tasks like washing dishes and preparing KONGS, as well as Greeter Volunteers who stand at the entrances and greet customers as they come in.
- Community Outreach Tabling Attendant: In this role, you'll work with AHS staff and volunteers to increase awareness of our programs and services by attending tabling events in the community and neighborhoods.
- Vet Center Facility Care: In this role, you'll support the Vet Center by ensuring spaces are clean and tidy for both animals and the staff. You will also assist with general observations post-procedures and report any changes in behavior.
- Training School Assistant: In this role, you'll work with the Training School staff to play a pivotal support role in keeping animals in their home. You'll assist staff with checking in students as they arrive for class, setting up rooms for classes, general classroom assistance and cleaning, and more.
