On Tuesday, April 8, Animal Humane Society’s humane agents partnered with local law enforcement to remove neglected cats from a Twin Cities property. We expected to encounter 30-60 cats. Once we arrived, however, we were met with an overwhelmed individual who was caring for 80 cats in overcrowded, unsanitary conditions.
Realizing the situation was unsustainable and their beloved felines weren't receiving the care and attention they deserve, the caretaker surrendered the cats to AHS.

The cats are currently being cared for by our expert veterinary and behavior teams while our Humane Investigations team continues to assist with the case.
Though some are generally healthy, many will require specialized care to manage eye infections, skin issues, ear mites, open wounds, and more. It could take weeks of care and rehabilitation before these cats are ready for their second chances, and we're tremendously grateful to have a supportive community that enables us to act in critical moments such as these.
