Health policy

Signs of Illness

Please monitor your child for signs of illness and keep them home when ill. Participants with symptoms of infectious diseases, including COVID-19, influenza, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), and gastrointestinal infections should stay home and get tested for COVID-19.

Participants who become ill while attending a program will need to be picked up early by a parent or caregiver.

Participant behavior policy

While at our programs, all participants are expected to treat other participants, AHS staff, and animals with respect and compassion. Behavior guidelines will be reviewed with participants. Children and adults who are consistently unable to follow these guidelines may be asked to leave or may be dismissed for the remainder of the session. No refunds will be available to campers who are dismissed for behavioral reasons.

We have zero tolerance regarding fighting or using an object as a weapon. Likewise, the use of tobacco, drugs, or alcohol is strictly prohibited. Violation of these policies is grounds for immediate dismissal from camp. No refunds will be available to campers who are dismissed for a violation of these policies.

Camper cell phone policy

We will permit campers to use their phones at the following times during the day: snack break, lunch, animal times (photos only), and for specific activities as directed by a counselor.  However, we encourage campers to keep phones put away so they can explore the real world around them, get to know their awesome fellow campers, and practice patience.

Time with shelter animals

Time in our adoption centers are very limited and closely monitored. Not all programs interact with shelter animals. See your program description for more details.

Education program FAQs

Please review our list of frequently asked questions. If you have questions that are not answered on this page, please contact us at 763-489-2220  or send us a message.

How will I know my registration is complete?

When you register your child for a camp or program, you will create an account for your family's information. Please keep your account log-in information for future use.

A registration confirmation email will be sent to the email address you used to create your account (please check your spam folder if you don't receive a confirmation message shortly after completing registration).

Receipts can be accessed via your account anytime.

What grade level should I register my child for?

For day camps and programs held during the school year, please register your child for their current grade.

For summer camp, please register your child for the grade they will be entering in the fall.

Camp activities are tailored to grade levels. Making exceptions to our grade level groupings poses challenges for campers and staff. To maintain the best camp experience for everyone, we do not make exceptions to the camp grade levels.

The program I am interested in is full. Will you be adding more sessions?

We occasionally add new or additional programs during the school-year. Please check our website for any new programs or sessions throughout the year.

For summer programming, we do not have the available space or additional staff required to offer additional camp sessions.

I don't have a credit card, or would prefer to pay with a check. Can I register by mail?

Registrants are required to create an account on our registration site to register for a program. If you would like to process payment by another method, please call our Education team at 763-489-2220 for options.

Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Registrations will not be processed until payment is received. We cannot hold spaces without full payment.

Can I drop my child off early, or pick them up late after a camp or program?

We do not offer extended care at our sites. Campers must be checked in and out at the start and ending program times.

What should I bring to my program or camp?

Each program is different. For Summer Camp, please refer to the AHS Camp Policy Handbook.

For other programs, you will receive an informational email approximately one week prior to your program or event with details.

What not to bring

  • We discourage program participants from bringing anything of value to camp. This includes money, toys, cell phones (see cell phone policy), etc.
  • Participants should not bring weapons, drugs, or alcohol. If this occurs, parents will be contacted for immediate dismissal and pick up without a refund.

Animal Humane Society is not responsible for any lost, damaged, or stolen equipment brought from home. Please label all personal items with your child’s name.

Do you offer camp scholarships or financial aid?

Animal Humane Society is currently unable to offer scholarships or financial assistance for programming. If you receive a scholarship from an outside organization, please reach out to us at [email protected] and we can help coordinate payment.
