Reactive Rovers classes

Reactive Rovers classes are designed for dogs that need help feeling comfortable on a leash. With an introductory seminar and two course levels, you and your dog will learn new skills and gain confidence around other dogs.

Reactive Dog Seminar

This free, humans-only seminar teaches you why reactivity happens in dogs, ways to predict and manage it, and what to do and what not to do when your dog is displaying these behaviors. This virtual foundational seminar is required before starting Reactive Rovers 1.

Prerequisite: None
Fee: Free
Date/time: Varies, check online sign up for dates, all times listed are in the Central Time Zone
Location: Virtual, link will be sent by email at least 2 hours ahead of scheduled session time

Reactive Rovers 1

This four-week class is designed for dogs that bark, snarl, lunge, or growl at other dogs while on leash. You will learn important defensive walking skills to prevent your dog's reaction, how to anticipate when your dog will react, and how to interrupt and calm a reaction. This class focuses on how to manage your dog's current reactivity. Once you've completed Reactive Rovers 1, you will have the tools necessary to begin behavior modification in Reactive Rovers 2.

Reactive Rovers 2

This four-week class is designed to build on the skills you learned in Reactive Rovers 1.  We will use counter-conditioning to teach your dog positive associations with other dogs and to pay attention to you in choreographed real-life scenarios.  This class focuses on how to change your dog's emotional response to other dogs and decrease reactivity. 

Prerequisite: Reactive Rovers 1

Date/time: Wednesdays at 5:30 p.m., 6:45 p.m., and 8:00 p.m.
