America’s Top Dog Model contest - 9:20am
Does your dog have what it takes to be America’s Top Dog Model ®? Last year Maia, a pug from Minneapolis was named America’s Top Dog Model ® and will be immortalized in their upcoming 2010 calendar! We’re staging the regional event at the Walk for Animals, and up to 3 finalists in the casting call will go on to the national finals with a chance to win great prizes and the national spotlight! This year’s theme is "Go Gorgeously Green." Canines, along with their owners, can help save the planet we all share. The Casting Call will be held first thing in the morning so you can parade your pooch across the main stage and then your dog can get naked and enjoy the rest of the Walk and the day costume-free.

Most unique Pet Award - 10:15am
This year the AHS is celebrating our 35th Annual Walk for Animals. 35 years of great fundraising that culminates with this one day of festivities where thousands of people and pets gather together to show their support for animals in need. The Walk has seen more than its’ share of dog breeds, we have also seen cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, POTBELLY pigs, goats, snakes, alligators, lizards, hedgehogs…oh my! Bring your unique pet to the main stage on Walk day to compete for this years’ Most Unique Pet Award! No pre-registration is necessary. Contestants asked to arrive by the stage area 15 minutes prior to contest time. A $50 AHS gift certificate will be awarded to the winner (gift certificate good towards the adoption fee of an AHS animal, or AHS merchandise at any of our 5 adoption centers).
Stupid Pet Tricks Contest! 12:00pm
Can your dog jump rope with you? Dance a two step? Play dead? Balance a biscuit on its nose while you sing Bye Bye Birdie? This is your pets chance to SHINE and show the world what its got! No trick is too grand or too small! No pre-registration is necessary, just come ready to show the Walk for Animals what you’ve got! Contestants asked to arrive by the stage area 15 minutes prior to contest time. A $50 AHS gift certificate will be awarded to the winner (gift certificate good towards the adoption fee of an AHS animal, or AHS merchandise at any of our 5 adoption centers).
Owner-Pet Look A-like Contest 12:10pm
Pug? Pekinese? Poodle? Do you look like your pet? Does your pet look like you? Let us be the judge at this year’s Walk for Animals! No pre-registration is necessary. Contestants asked to arrive by the stage area 15 minutes prior to contest time. A $50 AHS gift certificate will be awarded to the winner (gift certificate good towards the adoption fee of an AHS animal, or AHS merchandise at any of our 5 adoption centers).

Award for smallest dog at the Walk 12:20pm
Bring us your tiny, your teensy, your weensy! The smallest of the small dog breeds are a unique sight indeed. Show off your little pooch and see if they’re the itsy bitsy-est amongst the thousands of other dogs at this years’ Walk for Animals! No pre-registration is necessary. Contestants asked to arrive by the stage area 15 minutes prior to contest time. Award for largest dog at the Walk 12:30pm
Bring us your leggy, your lanky, your jowly- bigger is better for this contest! AHS is looking for the largest dog at this year’s Walk for Animals! If you think your dog has the height, weight and width to win, bring her in! No pre-registration is necessary. Contestants asked to arrive by the stage area 15 minutes prior to contest time. A $50 AHS gift certificate will be awarded to the winner (gift certificate good towards the adoption fee of an AHS animal, or AHS merchandise at any of our 5 adoption centers).
