ABOUT CAMP REGISTRATION

What's included in my child's registration fee?
Mini camp registration fee ($40 per day) includes camp activities and materials, plus two snacks per day.  Campers are required to bring a lunch each day.

Some mini camps are scheduled for two days.  Can my child attend just one day?
No.  Campers must register to attend a full mini camp session.

What is your cancellation policy?
If your registration is cancelled more than 7 days prior to the camp start date, your registration fee will be refunded, minus a $10 cancellation fee.  No refunds will be offered for registrations cancelled less than 7 days prior to the start of the camp session.

Are there scholarships available for Unleashed Express?
There are no scholarships available for Unleashed Express camps.

My child would like to attend camp with a friend.  Will they be together for the entire day?
Not necessarily.  Each camp day includes activities for the full group (12-26 campers, depending on location) as well as small groups (3-6 campers).  These groups are changed frequently to fit the needs of a particular activity or to address group behavior.  Campers who attend with friends will have ample opportunity to be together, but we will not guarantee that they will participate in every activity together.

What time does camp start in the morning?
Camp hours from from 9AM-4PM.

What kinds of activities do campers participate in?
Unleashed Express campers will participate in some of the same activities offered in our Unleashed summer camps (for a sample of those activities, click here).  Express camps will have a special focus on service projects, so campers in these sessions will also be making items to enrich the lives of shelter animals.

Will my child be working directly with shelter animals?
Each day at camp includes at least some time where kids are interacting with shelter animals, but that's only one part of the camp experience - Unleashed Express includes lots of other animal-related activities, too.  Campers will also participate in learning activities about the costs of owning a pet, being safe around animals, and more.  Please note that Unleashed Express is not a junior volunteer program; campers will not be performing shelter volunteer duties during camp.

Can I drop my child off early, or pick them up late after camp?
Unfortunately, we do not have extended childcare available.  If camp hours are a challenge for your family, invite a friend whose family would be able to provide transportation.

Where should my child go on the first day of camp?
Campers should come to the main adoption entrance at the shelter.  Our shelters are not open until 12:00 noon on weekdays, but camp staff will come out to welcome campers. 

When your registration is confirmed, you will receive a newsletter with more details about your camp session.  This newsletter will include information about checking in and signing out, what to wear, items to bring, etc.
