Pepe

Pepe

On or around July 17, 2010, my boyfriend and I were driving around trying to find a garden center to purchase plants.  When the road cut off and we found ourselves driving by the St. Paul Animal Humane Society, we decided to stop and pet the kitties. Already the proud mamma of a beautiful 14-year-old short hair named Isobel, I didn't envision having another cat. Until I met Pepe.

Pepe is a big and adorable 10-year-old, 21-pound black and white boy. He barely fit in the cage. And he's so sweet! I couldn't resist him and after driving around and thinking about it for a couple of hours, we drove back and adopted him that day. All the volunteers were so happy for us. We brought him home and the box broke and he was free to explore. After an adjustment period, Isobel and Pepe (or Pepe Roni as we call him) seem to tolerate each other. Pepe is so nice and gentle with Isobel. She will try to attack him and Pepe will roll on his back and bat back in defense, but he has never once bit her. Pepe also has a nighttime ritual, where he'll come cuddle in bed, nudge his head back and forth on a pillow, then go off to eat.

He loves to eat, especially soft food.  We have not had any success in helping him lose weight, but we tell ourselves that he is "big-boned."  Affectionate, charming and cute, Pepe truly is the world's most perfect cat! We love Pepe!
