I have always wanted a dog of my own and Lola was the perfect fit. After buying my first home I finally had a location to be able to adopt and give a good home to a dog. I had previously adopted two cats, so I needed a dog that would get along with them. After spending a few days back and forth between the different humane societies in the Twin Cities, I spotted Lola at the Golden Valley Animal Humane Society. She was sleeping at the time, but as soon as I saw her I knew she would be the one to bring home. We had a little play time that day and I was hooked. I brought my girlfriend in the next day to make the final decision and we took her home.
Lola was part of the Adoption Preparation program, meaning she was deemed shy, needing a quiet and stress-free environment. As soon as she came home with us, you couldn't tell her from another curious, non-shy puppy. She warmed up to the cats right a way and though she does a little more chasing then she should, she is always tender and loving. She is a great addition to the family - loyal, protective and playful. All of the animals I have adopted from the Animal Humane Society have been amazing!
