Charlie

Charlie

In December 2010, two weeks before Christmas, we lost our beloved cat, Oscar, unexpectedly and completely without warning. My heart was broken, and I couldn't believe how much sadness we both felt. The weeks went on and I stopped crying, but only on the outside. The house became empty and quiet, its character gone.

I had been perusing the Animal Humane Society website for kitties and kept going back to this one black kitty with yellow eyes and a sweet face who, at the time, was named Hopper. On the morning of February 13, 2011, I had only one mission... to go get Hopper. We drove to Coon Rapids and waited for the doors to open. The staff was incredible - kind, compassionate about their work, and knowledgeable about each and every animal. After about an hour, we were on our way home with our beautiful black kitty who we now call Charlie.

Charlie has given us so much. He is a funny, inquisitive, playful, charming, and loving kitty who makes us laugh and warms our hearts. I can't imagine him anywhere else but here. Every animal at AHS has a story, and most animals have a personality longing to blossom, just as Charlie has. They just need a loving home. And while we feel so thankful we gave Charlie a new home, without a doubt, he has given us way more than we have given him.
