My husband and I lost our wonderful beagle, Scrapple, this past spring and were heartbroken. This fall we started considering getting a new dog, and because I am a volunteer at Animal Humane Society, we naturally started our search there. We wanted to get another beagle and visited several at Animal Humane Society before finally choosing Charlie. I saw him on the website and thought he was very unique with one blue eye and one brown eye.
We decided to visit him at the Golden Valley site and instantly fell in love. He was a little shy at first in the "get to know you" room, but after a few minutes he was wagging his tail and licking our faces. We just had to bring him home! We kept the name Charlie, given to him at AHS, because we thought it fit his personality which is very happy and playful. Charlie is settling in nicely at home and loves to go for walks, play with toys that squeak, and take naps on our sun porch, but most of all he loves to snuggle on the couch at the end of the day. He is such an affectionate little guy, always wanting to give kisses, and loves to get his head scratched and belly rubbed. We know we definitely made the right choice and can't imagine not having little Charlie around.
