We adopted Brandy, a collie/hound mix, from the Golden Valley Animal Humane Society on 07/01/2010. It was quite the adventure getting her. My son Jesse and I put a hold on her the day before so we would have time to get her approved by our apartment manager. The next day we were going to pick up a kennel from a very kind and patient family we found on Craigslist. That morning I became suddenly ill but tried to carry on as planned. My son ended up taking me to the emergency room (kidney stone). He was a new driver and recently out of the hospital himself. He bravely drove to the cities to get the kennel from strangers who were very patient as he was late due to bringing me to the ER first. Fortunately, the Animal Humane Society allowed him to adopt Brandy even though she was on hold in my name. I got out a day or two later and we went to the family 4th of July celebration. Brandy was a big hit and became an instant member of the family. We couldn't imagine life without her. We soon added another pup to the mix named Bacardi and they were instant best friends. We are very grateful to the Animal Humane Society for all that you do.
