Barklee

Barklee

We cannot be happier with the new member of our family! His name is Barklee now, and he had really big shoes to fill, as we lost our Sweet Cody after 14 years, just two days after Christmas.

We were originally going to adopt Barklee's brother because he looked just like our Cody (an all black weimaraner/lab), but there was no love connection in the visitation room at the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley. I had them bring his brother in the room (carmel/grey colored and ten pounds bigger than his brother) and he danced over and gave me a head tilt that said "I'm the one!"

Every day I brag to him, "I picked the right doggie!" Barklee is now 7.5 months old and is so smart. He is training for duck hunting and jumped right from level one puppy obedience class to the advanced obedience with the older, experienced dogs and is doing great!

Whoever had him and his three siblings had already been potty training him, taught him to sit and other commands, because he did it all the first time. Barklee is lucky that I am able to walk/run him at least once a day. He then gets his duck hunting training a couple times a week by both of us, and gets to play with his brother Duke, an 8-year-old old rescued weimaraner. We feel very very lucky!
