Earn your Girl Scout Junior Pet Care Badge at the Animal Humane Society!

The Animal Humane Society offers a Pet Care Badge program for Girl Scout Juniors. Our comprehensive 2-hour program features a shelter tour and other activities which meet all the requirements to earn a Pet Care Badge.  Activities include:

  • "Don't Pass It On" - lesson on common pet diseases, including heartworm and rabies, and how they can be prevented
  • "Animal Talk" - explores how we can learn to interpret animal communication in order to stay safe around them
  • "The Facts of Life" - discusses pet overpopulation and why spay/neuter is so important
  • "To Have or Have Not" and "What Pet is Right For Me" - explore the varying responsibilities related to different kinds of animals, and how people can choose the best pet for their lifestyle (or whether to have a pet at all)
  • "Add It Up" - calculates the lifetime costs of owning a pet
  • "Other Ways to Be Around Animals" - a shelter tour highlighting some of the many ways people can work with animals

Who: Girl Scout Juniors (grades 4-5)
Where: Any AHS location - call for availability
Cost: $10 per scout (includes badge)
