Red Cross disaster assistance

The Animal Humane Society is available for all the stages of an animal’s life. And that includes during times of disaster and emergency.

We are proud to partner with the American Red Cross Twin Cities to provide temporary boarding for household pets. These services are available to victims of single-family fires and those affected by large-scale disasters in Hennepin and Anoka counties.

Those in need of the service are required to have a referral from the Red Cross. Upon referral, we provide housing and food for the pet for up to two weeks at no charge.

The Animal Humane Society is also a member of Minnesota-Animal Disaster Coalition (MN-ADC) and has been instrumental in the creation of an animal disaster response model for the state of Minnesota.
