On the road protecting animals

It’s all in a day’s work for humane investigators

The thing that gets you is the smell. Even the noise can be ignored, but you can’t ignore the smell of hundreds of dogs in kennels, an over-populated chicken coop, or a house with too many cats. Recently, I rode with Animal Humane Society Humane Investigators and learned how they educate owners, seize animals, and work with other law enforcement agencies to ensure the well being of animals in Minnesota.

The Animal Humane Society’s Humane Investigation team spends their days seeking justice for animals—from tiny birds to majestic horses. The small department of only two full-time investigators covers the state, responding to complaints from, veterinarians, law enforcement agencies and ordinary citizens who care about the welfare of animals.
