‘Guitar Toss’ to benefit Animal Humane Society

My Music Store will hold their eleventh annual Guitar Toss event in the parking lot of the Golden Valley Shopping Center on Saturday, July 31, from 12:30 – 4:00 PM.

For only $1 a toss – or ‘a buck a chuck’ as it is billed – kids and adults alike can throw a guitar and attempt to land it in a dumpster. Immediate prizes are given to those who successfully land a guitar in the dumpster; additionally, every toss enters the thrower in a drawing, to be held Monday, August 2, for prizes that include musical instruments and merchandise.

My Music Store co-owner Jim Harms commented: “For the drawing, we’ve received generous prize donations from many of our vendors and previous sponsors, all of whom have been incredibly generous and helpful with this now eleven-year-old event.”

All proceeds from My Music Store’s Guitar Toss event benefit the Animal Humane Society based in Golden Valley. “Every dollar collected during the event goes directly to the Animal Humane Society,” said co-owner Linda Morris. “My Music Store and the Golden Valley Shopping Center donate all of the set-up costs, and employees donate their time.”

My Music Store has been in operation since 1999 and specializes in selling new and used guitars, basses, drums, percussion,keyboards, band instruments, and numerous musical accessories. Repairs and maintenance are also available. Education is a main focus of My Music Store. There are currently more than 20 individual instructors occupying 13 teaching studios. Lessons are available for most band instruments, guitar, bass, drums, and piano. My Music Store is open 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM Monday through Thursday, and 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM Friday and Saturday.
