Standout student with a heart for animals

Sam Lancaster knows that volunteering looks good on a resume and helps when applying to colleges, but that's not why she shows up every week to volunteer at the Golden Valley Animal Humane Society. Sam simply loves the animals.

"They love you always and they cuddle with you," she said as she snuggled a Chihuahua on the adoption floor.

Sam helps socialize the dogs and also gets to play matchmaker of sorts. She helps people who come into the Humane Society find a pet that fits their personality. It's a job that just seems to come naturally.
