It's almost time! The Walk for Animals is this Saturday, May 3

wfa14_pd.pngThis Saturday – yes, it’s finally here! – is the 2014 Walk for Animals, our most important fundraiser of the year, and we couldn’t be more excited. It is, after all, the most fun we have all year – as well as the embodiment of the all the support out there for making a difference in the lives of thousands of animals.

As always, the walk is more than just a walk… it’s a day of fun festivities on the Animal Humane Society grounds in Golden Valley, complete with family-friendly entertainment, games for your four-legged friends, fantastic food, and plenty of good people and pet watching.

If you want to know more about what is happening where on the Animal Humane Society grounds, here’s a handy map.

Even though the Walk is nearly upon us, you can still fundraise or donate. Get the answers to all your questions about how to support the Walk in these FAQs.

And please remember, if you would like to join us for the Walk and festivities, but you are not fundraising, no registration is required. Everyone is welcome to participate in the Walk for Animals, but only those who are fundraising for the event need to register.

We can’t wait to see you on Saturday!

Parking and shuttle buses for the Walk

Bringing thousands of people and pets to one location can be a little tricky, but we have a plan to make it easy and safe for all. General parking will be allowed in five off-site lots, with only authorized vehicles allowed in the immediate area of Animal Humane Society. It’s easy to take shuttle buses from the off-site lots and back – just follow the easy instructions here.

Remember… we have a new, shorter Walk route!

walkers13.pngThe Walk for Animals is, after all, a…. walk. But this year we’ve trimmed the distance to about 2.5 miles, enough to get some exercise for you and your animals but more time for you to enjoy the festivities back at Animal Humane Society.

This year’s Walk for Animals begins at 9 a.m. at Animal Humane Society’s Golden Valley campus. It continues through beautiful Theodore Wirth Park, turns around at the park’s Golf Chalet, and heads back to Animal Humane Society. (You can turn around at any time as well.) Here is a map of the Walk route.

Be sure to visit our Facebook page (and, hey, as long as you’re there, give us a “Like”) to see some of the crazy stuff we’re coming up with.

PLUS…. Be sure to check out our new Instagram page, and follow us there as well!
