How to Stop Cruelty to Animals

When you see an act of animal cruelty, abuse, or neglect, call your local humane society, animal control office, or police department and report the incident immediately. Animals need you to speak on their behalf because they can’t. Never tolerate any act of violence towards an animal because it’s “just a cat” or it’s “just a bird.” Acts of violence against animals can be warning signs of future acts of violence against humans!
Be a role model for responsible pet ownership! Obey your city’s animal ordinances, and keep your pet's vaccinations and registration up-to-date. Educate children and teenagers to respect animals and to safely and appropriately handle animals.
Be a voice for animals! Get involved in the legislative process. Ask your elected officials to support laws and ordinances that seek to protect animals.
Volunteer at your local animal shelter or consider making a donation to the organization that works on behalf of animals in your community.

To support efforts to stop animal cruelty and Humane Investigations at the Animal Humane Society, please make a donation! Your generous support is greatly appreciated!
