FOSTER VOLUNTEERING

Foster homes provide an invaluable service to animals needing individualized care and socialization prior to being eligible for adoption. We provide all the basic supplies you'll need to foster, as well as vaccinations, preventative treatments and microchips for the animals. You will also receive thorough training for the role.

Our areas of greatest need are:

  • Litters of kitten awaiting spay or neuter surgery
  • Animals with special health needs, such as dogs with heartworms or those recovering from surgery.
  • Other opportunities like hamsters, gerbils and litters of puppies also exist, but on a much more limited basis.

All foster volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Interested foster volunteers must commit to a minimum of one year of service and fostering a minimum of 24 days annually. The length of time an animal needs foster care depends on the needs of the individual animal, but typically ranges from 2 to 8 weeks.

Our greatest areas of need are in Buffalo and Coon Rapids.  Please consider fostering through these sites if possible.

Those interested in becoming foster volunteers are required to go through the standard volunteer application process. If you are interested in applying, please click here.
