Frequently Asked Questions

How often are the adoptable animals lists on the Web updated ?    The lists are updated every four hours starting at 6:30AM until 10:30PM.

Will you watch for a particular breed and call me when one comes in?    No, we don't have waiting lists or call lists. The best way to find a particular breed is to regularly scan the available animals on this web site and call our adoption desk directly for additional information when you see an interesting animal. 763 489 2201

If I see an interesting animal on the web, will you hold it for me until I get there?   No. We will place an animal on hold only after an individual has come in and spent some time with the particular animal. We've found this is the best way to determine which animals will work best in your home.

I found a stray animal. How can I return it to its owner?    If it doesn't have any identification tags, it's best to bring it to us right away. We can scan it for an ID microchip and use our computerized lost and found animal system to see if anyone has reported a missing animal to us with a matching description. By state law, stray animals must be held for five days to allow owners to reclaim them. Chances are better for recovery if the animal is here or at some other agency that the owner is likely to call.
