Winnie the Cat's Success Story

Winnie the Cat's Success Story

As a 12-year-old girl, Aria begged her mother for months to let her get a cat. It took a lot of convincing, but finally Mom gave in, but only if Aria paid for the new pet herself. Aria saved up her allowance and was ready to go on the search for a new friend. At the Animal Humane Society in St. Paul, Aria felt an instant connection with Winnie: a small tabby with bright green eyes. Aria’s mom tried to persuade her to choose a different cat, a small Siamese, but Aria wouldn’t budge. Since then, Aria and Winnie have been inseparable and Aria’s mom has come to love the cat too. Winnie was like a little shadow, following Aria everywhere. Winnie provided companionship when Aria’s sisters moved out.

That was 13 years ago. Aria is now an adult, but she still has her childhood friend Winnie. Winnie comes running when Aria whistles, and leaps into Aria’s arms when she pats her chest. They’ve been through everything together including many adventures and challenges. “I feel she puts her whole heart into loving me. I could not have asked for a better cat than Winnie. We were destined to be friends,” Aria says.
