Double the Love for 10,000 homeless cats

In an effort to increase cat adoptions and reduce euthanasia during the heavy intake summer months, Animal Humane Society will begin offering a Double the Love opportunity to the public.

“During the summer months, Animal Humane Society sees an average of 70 cats a day brought to our five sites.  On average that's 500 cats a week and 2,000 a month,” says Cindy Johnson, director of customer service at Animal Humane Society.  “We see overwhelming numbers of cats and kittens left with us and we need to get these felines into new homes as quickly as possible.”

Customers can adopt one cat at the regular adoption fee and the fee will be waived for the second cat.  Double the love and help reduce cat overpopulation. “We are seeing kittens brought to us earlier each year and through early autumn,” adds Johnson. “No longer is a kitten season a matter of two or three months but up to five or six or longer.”

This unprecedented program is available at all five locations: Buffalo, Coon Rapids, Golden Valley, St. Paul and Woodbury. Customers will have the first choice of a cat or kitten of any age with the second cat one year of age or older. Customers can choose two felines from any kennel or room in AHS Adoption Centers.

The Double the Love offer is available only at the time of adoption, during the promotion dates and is not retroactive. Both cats must be adopted at the same time. No other discounts apply.
